Meet april's Featured Artist Gayll Morrison

Gayll Morrison is the President of the Mt. Si Artist Guild and a founding member of the Art Gallery of SnoValley. As an oil painter Gayll explores aspects of light, space, and water in what are often landscapes, sometimes abstract, and occasionally both!

Her recent series of 'Light Industrial Abstracts' are now on display in the gallery.  During the lockdown of 2020 she painted Snoqualmie Falls 5 times! All of these paintings are quite different as to season and point of view, they can be viewed on her website - www.gayllery.biz ​

"I work exclusively in oil on canvas. Partly because I love the legacy and incredible history of this medium and partly because oil paint dries really slowly so I have plenty of time to achieve my goal. These paintings take an average of 30 hours to complete not including the time I spend just thinking about what it is I am trying to do or just staring at the work in progress asking myself ‘is it done yet?’ or ‘should I stop now?’.  Sometimes I get lucky or especially inspired and it all comes together in much less time.  Sometimes the do-overs run into the countless and ‘who cares anyway this is fun!’ number of hours.  I really enjoy my work, hope you do too!"
