My paintings begin as whispers: paint or pastels drifting across a surface, pencil lines finding their way, fineliner pens leaving traces of early intention. Beneath each piece is a foundation chosen for its character: plaster, wood fibers, honeycomb, or whatever substrate feels ready to hold texture and create interest with a unique presentation and feel. As the underpainting develops, the beeswax arrives. Melted, pigmented, and alive with heat, it settles into the surface and begins to shape its own quiet geography as I fuse with a torch or heat gun. Layer by layer, the surface deepens. Colors breathe, textures rise, and the piece finds the voice it was reaching for. I create art because it brings me joy to imagine these works living in the homes and spaces of others; perhaps offering calm, curiosity, or a moment of pause in a busy life. My hope is that each painting becomes a companion, revealing new subtleties over time and settling into a room the way light settles at the end of afternoon. If someone feels a moment of joy in the presence of my work, it reflects the joy I felt creating it! Web: https://artbygregg.net/ Instagram: @osp_images email: [email protected] |
