Artists here is an extraordinary opportunity to learn something new about art, artificial intelligence and the artistic process. Rebecca Mott will giving an introductory talk on artificial intelligence and how engaging with it can benefit you and your work as an artist!

"Whether obviously or subversively, algorithms influence our decisions and behavior. Machine learning feeds our minds and directs our attention as we browse social media and perform simple internet searches. Artificial Intelligence is a daunting topic to consider, given that these processes and systems are rarely accessible or comprehendible.

I am here to break down that barrier, as best I can, and provide you with an introductory explanation for what AI is and how engaging with it can benefit you and your work as an artist.

During the first section of our meeting we will focus on several essential points, including what AI is and how it is used by many artists, what some misnomers and assumptions are about AI, and what my personal experiences have been working with it. My hope is that, through a brief introduction to AI + Art, you will find a clearer vision for its potential.

The second part of our meeting will shift to the practical side of what exactly AI can be for artists. As with any other artistic method or medium, the work will vary greatly from artist to artist. However, during the space of the class you will be able to try using AI yourself, perhaps for the very first time!

Participation is optional and you are welcome to join us, without any obligations. If you are interested in participating, please bring a personal laptop with digital images of your artwork saved to it. If you do not have the ability to bring a computer with you, you can email me at rebecca.mott.art@gmail.com and we will arrange a way for you to participate."
