Monica Phillips is a local Issaquah artist who loves all bright color. It could be in Dichroic Fused Glass Jewelry, watercolor or microphotography. She learned how to fuse glass in Northern California and participated in many shows in the SF Bay Area prior to moving to Issaquah. When she started working with dichroic glass, she was so prolific that she had to learn traditional silversmithing techniques to give the glass the setting it deserved. This led to making earrings, pendants, weaving and beading and torchwork. She is fortunate to have a scientific background, which led her to microscopic crystal photography using a camera-fitted polarizing microscope, proving that science is art. Crystal microscopy is quite challenging and rewarding. She's also trying out watercolor painting. Her goal is to make unique, colorful art and not listen to her inner critic. She is currently serving as the Mt Si Artist Guild Treasurer. You may contact her by email at [email protected], phone at (925)212-0356.
