Minh is featuring her series of floral paintings this month at the gallery under the theme “A Million Blooms”. Part of the work is in one of the two gallery windows. Here is what she shares about her floral painting process. “Painting flowers is one of my favorite things. I like my flowers to be bold and expressive with lots of vibrant colors. When I paint, I often span across various mediums depending on what I happen to grab to scribble, scratch, smear, spread, or drip, and so my floral paintings are mostly mixed media. As far as tools, I love shopping in the kitchen section at thrift shops. I sometimes refer to photos since correct botany structure is somewhat necessary, but I prefer making up flowers as I go. It is fun and freewheeling to be able to paint this way. The process is often messy, but it is most gratifying.” Email: [email protected] |
