![]() Sydney is a Pacific Northwest artist whose artwork ranges from abstract pieces to plein air scenes, but regardless of the subject, it's always colorful, expressive, and inspired by nature. Some pieces are abstracted versions of nature or a micro-view of the insides of things, such as geodes or flowers. Others are an exaggerated macro-view, much like an aerial photograph of a beach or other landscape. Sydney enjoys plein air painting whenever she can and exploring a variety of other mediums, including fused glass and hand-built ceramic sculptures. Sydney has been an artist her entire life and has shown her work in local, region, and national shows and venues. Sydney received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Studio Art and Economics at University of California Davis and has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from University of Washington. While at UC Davis, she studied with notable California artists, such as painter Wayne Thiebaud, painter Roy De Forest, printmaker Timothy Berry, and ceramic sculptor Tre Arenz. She has taken numerous workshops around the United States from artists, such as painter Lori Putnam, painter Michelle Usibelli, painter Mike Hernandez, painter Jed Dorsey, and painter Betty Carr. Sydney is also the current President the Mt. Si Artist Guild (dba Art Gallery of SnoValley) and Puget Sound Group Northwest Artists, a member-run arts organization with a 97-year history whose members include many distinguished professional and emerging artists in the Puget Sound region.
